you might try selling the tires and rims separately (Ebay?)
I don't think the rims are really worth much but the tires can be used by a lot of different cars.
(I'll be getting my 18"s after Christmas and will be in the same boat as you ---except my tires are 80% gone and I'm trying NOT to replace them until I get the 18s).
