Best of luck but the used car market is crazy!
I purchased two '98 base cars (neglected 2 owner cars) back in 2011, one for $4,500 and one for $4,800. I'd guess the same cars in the same condition would be ~$7-8k.
My garage kept 2000S with $133K miles sold for $7.2K in 2018....It'd be $11K all day today even with more miles.
Not saying your expectations are unreasonable but your time horizon may be a bit longer than a few years ago.
