Idea seems cool. You have to cut through the outer and inner shell. Not sure about the rigidity.
The curved z-art roof is very prominent, so everything but a seamless super smooth transition might not look too fancy.
Or if you are not planning to have such a surgical built precission, just install a hipster roof rack on top. Will distract the attention.
