....996 values are climbing as well.

The 986/996 bottomed out in 2015 and have been climbing ever since. That makes sense. They ended production in 2004. So call it ten years after, the depreciation curve bottomed out. Remember, federal law says car companies have to support a car with spare parts for ten years after production, so the sweet spot for buying most used cars is about eight years after production.

Fortunately for us, Porsche has decided to support the 986 in their “Classic” department and they have committed to producing parts and providing service for the 986 forever.

If you find a good one, you better jump on her now.

I bought my 2004 “50 years of 550 Spyder Edition” in 2015.

I paid top dollar for a very low miles, one owner, well maintained car. I thought I over paid quite a bit at the time, but I knew I had found the EXACT car with the EXACT equipment I wanted to own forever.

Looking at the market today, I know I actually bought her right. I’m glad I pulled the trigger when I did.
