I don't think there is anything wrong with that arm in your picture. The ball socket attached on the end in your last photo snaps into a square black plastic piece (part #26 in the diagram) which slides in the track. It is a bit of work to get the #26 part out but you may be able to get it snapped back inif you unbolt the arm from the clamshell.
