Motul should be easily available in Canada now. There are a lot more distributors and retailers carrying Motul. A number of years ago, it was a different story. One can easily pick up Motul from most independent repair shops specializing in Porsche, and what have you. There is a small cost differential compared to way back when. It was hard to get when I wanted to run Motul on my E36 M3 when I had it, but that was 5+ years ago, and I had to order it from the US. I've had no issues with any kind of starting on my E36, 996, or 986. Might be a motorcycle thing, but I could be wrong (been out of the game for too long!)
