Id suggest turning the wheels to the point where you typically get the noise and have a good look around with the car on the ground. Could be brake ducts hitting a wheel, the wheel hitting the liner, or any number of things. Is it a metal on metal sound (based on your brake dust shield description, it sounds that way).

Are you SURE all your bolts are torqued?
