Yokohama Advan V105 clearance

The rears on my CSS were looking a bit thin on the sidewall and Indy is 2 mo away. Didn't want to go there, run 2-3 sessions and be out of tires, so I started where I always do - check TireRack. I currently have Conti Extreme Contact DWs but I'm not super happy with them, so I was open other brands although it would be cheaper for me to just buy the rears since the fronts were OK. I suddenly run across a full set of Yoko Advan V105s for $585. I realize there's still mounting and balancing but $585 was $400 cheaper than the next premium tire set. I text a friend and ask if he's used TR and if so, who does he have mount them locally. He said he'll take them to Discount Tire for mount but adds that Discount will match prices with TR. I hustle down to my local store and ask if they sell the V105 in my size. He says yes and the cost will be $1200. I ask if he'll match TR and he asks what they're pricing them at. I say $585 and his jaw hits the floor. He whips out his phone and checks - sure enough, $585. He says he has to clear it with his mgr, so he goes into the office for a few min. Comes back out and says they will match. All out the door - $713 for 4 19" tires. WOW!!!

Got the tires mounted Wed. They have a nice ride. The only HP test was today on a 270 deg offramp. The stuck very well. We'll see when I get to Indy, but they couldn't be any worse than the DWs and the price was fantastic. I think Yoko is coming out with a new tire so they're probably clearing the shelves of the V105, but the TR test results seem good. If you're in the mkt for tires, you may want to check them out.
