If this car is a non e-gas there will be an idle control valve on it. It is controlled by the DME to modulate the idle speed. It does this by bypassing air around the throttle body with a valve that is opened and closed depending on what the engine needs. If it isnít working properly it will cause the exact symptoms you are experiencing.
