To maintain its certified status, you follow the schedule religiously. Doesn't mean you have to have a dealer do it but it does save hassles if something bad should happen and you need to assemble all your proof. You want that protection.

BTW, low miles per year isn't a good thing for a car. Frequent long runs with gradual warm up and then exercise it. Burn off the condensation in the crankcase.
