Are you comparing the struts that were in the car with the struts you just bought, both of them out of the car? When the struts are not compressed by the weight of the car, they will be the same length (unless the springs are ridiculously short), because of the spring's preload.

Do the springs look the same between the different sets? Pictures would be good, so the experts here can try to figure out what is going on.

It's possible you do have lowering springs that came on the car, or they are stock springs that have been cut.
