Your intel is correct - you need a durametric type tool or the dealer.

There are some on fleabay for $150 but you have to be sure to buy one specific to resetting the service light - some don't cover that item. I've been eyeing one but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

My dealer used to clear it for me for free but they have to charge $35 now.
