I ordered a ready cut key a few years ago using my VIN. But the key will not start the car without a key head that has the chip in in. To program the head you need the PST2 and a key learning code from Porsche. They also need your car to do this.

So, no one is going to steal your car with the VIN unless it has already been stolen.
