Factory replacement engine ?

In my quest to try and determine whether my new to me 2000 2.7 has a single or double (and I have learned that the only true way is to pull it), I ran into LN's page that states the engine is a factory replacement if it has a "Y" in the engine number. Mine does. ( https://lnengineering.com/news/engine-original-1997-2008-boxster-cayman-911-model/ )

The carfax listed the selling dealer so I reached out to them and even though the carfax showed they serviced the car untill 40k miles, they stated they had no record of it.....seems kind of odd.

Can anyone confirm that
1. The Y does in fact indicate that at some point in time the motor was replaced with a factory crate motor
2. Any suggestions on how to find when the motor was replaced

Thanks
