I don't think it was ever meant to masculine like a corvette but rather a simple sports car with subtle curves. Yeah I agree. 987 indeed look more "modern" (and it is) cause of the circle headlight (even though it reminds me the Mini Cooper lights), bigger body, renovated interior, and so on. But yeah, I don't know if it has that kind of "retro" look.
