For what it's worth. When I had my 996 I had (2) crack on me. Oil ended up leaking in there and causing a misfire.
I can't remember how much it was to fix - but I would make sure you were careful when change the plugs.
*and for the record - I don't work on my engine - so I wasn't the one that damaged them
