If it makes you feel better, $15-$20K+ a year in property taxes isn't all that unusual here on Long Island. The mid-teen figure is often for a quarter acre or 60 x 100. And we DO have a relatively hefty state income tax, not to mention the local 8.625% sales tax. We might just be first in the nation in taxes. Lucky us!
