Well some information about Alternators in the Automotive World, 1, Porsche doesn't make 1 single Alternator. They use Bosch Alternators. 2 Alternators are the worlds #1 Most easily defective part in Any Automobile. Quality Control is something you cannot Control with Alternators. You can build or rebuild one, test it and it tests out great but something during shipment to its parts distributor can cause that Alternator to become Defective.

With that being said, Any Alternator coming out of the Stealership, last I checked was 1700 for a Refurb.... The EXACT same Refurb you can buy from Autozone, Napa, Pep Boys etc... 1700 with No Warranty. Autozone, Pep Boys, Napa, Oreillys all gives a lifetime warranty with their refurbs. The current Alternator is a Bosch, the Alternator before that was brand new and defective, Bosch, The Alternator prior that had the drain, Bosch.

Other things also can determine Alternator Health. Dirt, Oil, Extreme Heat. They don't last forever.

Oh and the Cost of that Refurb from a Typical Parts store that is the EXACT same thing as the 1700 Refurb from the Stealership? 150 Bucks! Lifetime Warranty!
