So inaccurate, that I have mostly concluded that its more of a guideline than a measurement. Thank you! That is sort of comforting....in a crazy kind of way, at least I'm not alone on this issue.

I'll go with plan A and run this tank down till I (hopefully) get the low-fuel light and re-fill.
I'll post my results.
