Not hard at all. Just did mine about two weeks ago. I will tell you that I didn't notice all that much of a difference in sound until past the 4000 to 5000 rpm range. Anyway...

1. Remove the screw at the top of the driver side intake vent.
2. Grab the vent as best you can and pull. It took quite a bit of force and some have broken their clips (there are three if I remember correctly).
3. Once the vent has been removed there may be a screen that needs to come out. Mine did not have one. If so, there may be a screw that holds it in place. Unscrew and remove.
4. With the screen out you will see the snorkel. It has a cup like scoop on the end. I wedged one of my hands inside and placed the other on top and pressed downward to dislodge the clips that hold it in.
5. Replace the screen (if you have it) and the intake vent, not forgetting the screw at the top.
