1999 Electric Boxster

A few years ago I converted a 1999 Boxster to a completely electric vehicle, and am now looking to sell it. The car is black and was in very good shape before the engine had an ims failure. I took out the old engine and replaced it with a 9" DC motor running at 120V. The car is fully electrified with 34 Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries powering it. The batteries are stored in boxes in the trunk and where the gas tank used to be. The front trunk is completely unchanged.

I documented the entire conversion on my blog here: Electric Boxster Conversion

The car is a blast to drive and runs essentially silently. I used it as my daily driving car around town for about a year, but am now moving and looking for a longer ranged car. I never tested it to its limits, but I brought it on 50 mile trips with no concerns. I also used it on the highway and had it going 70+ mph, but again never tested its full capabilities.

All of the key modified parts are listed here:

- Internal combustion engine replaced with Warp9 electric motor
- Gas tank and exhaust system removed and replaced with Lithium batteries
- Battery charger and controller placed in the engine bay
- Brakes and power steering converted to run on 12V motors

The car is in working order but does require periodic maintenance and upkeep, so I would like to sell it to someone interested in electric cars and tinkering with one themselves. If someone was interested in doing their own electric car conversion, this car would be a great one to start with. I put over $15k into the car start to finish, and am looking for $12,000 or best offer now that the batteries are a few years older. I put about 1,500 miles on the car since the conversion. I'm happy to answer all questions, please send a message!
