For many years, Porsche has designed their lighters so they are "always hot", regardless of the ignition switch position. This was done to facilitate the use of battery maintainers which plug into the lighter socket inside the car, and include a small opening in the driver's door lower seal to allow the electric cord for the maintainer to exit the vehicle while the car is locked and the alarm is on.
