Hi,,

where exactly is the leakage? Could be the seal for the short flanged shaft or the sealings for the long flanged shaft.

Both can be changed without removing the transmission, but i would say it's not an easy fix (depending on your knowledge, tools and skills).

You'll need to bleed the transmission, than remove the complete drive shaft and than to disassemble some parts. Also you need special tools to remove an install the sealings correctly.

So you'll need:
20-100 Nm torque wrench
500 Nm torque wrench (wheel hub to wheel carrier = 460 Nm)
A puller tool for uninstalling the control arm
Hook VW 681 or equivalent
Porsche special tool - pressure peace 3382 – if you have a milling machine you can build you own pressure peace.

I would recommend a hydraulic ramp to do that. Also it's really helpful to have an assistant if you want to remove and install the drive shaft.

So if you are an experienced DIY mechanic with special tools and knowlegde i would say go for it. Else i would say better let it be done by a shop.

Regards, Markus
