The 2010s I've been seeing are usually in the upper $20k range, but they usually have much lower mileage. I'm looking, too, but having a 986S, I don't want a base model 987. Their horsepower is about the same but the early S has about 10% more torque than the later base. That's what we feel most of the time in regular driving, so that 987 base is going to seem somewhat anemic in comparison.
The advantages I see in a 987.2 are no IMSB, availability of PDK transmission, and horsepower/torque in an S. You would get the first advantage, but not the other two. I don't think you missed out on anything other than a bit lower mileage and, maybe, a somewhat nicer interior finish.
