It is possible that the drain plug is cracked. In my experience a correctly torqued drain plug with an old crush washer will still not come anywhere close to leaking.
I had the magnetic LN drain plug and over-torquing it left a non-visible crack and it resulted in a leak of about a drop of oil/30 seconds.
