I have a battery saver type device that trickle charges very low current.

If it will switch into charge mode when connected to the fuse box, then it's going to bring the battery back up. If it acts like it's not connected, then the battery is too flat and needs something with more grunt to get it back up to the stage where the trickle charger will start charging it.

To get yourself to that stage, I'd go for the connection on the alternator - assuming that you can get to it?
