had the same thing happen to me (1 gun shot sound) and 986 was really under powered and I kept going back to maf and aos replacements till i did some research and made the proper fix.

So glad to read this, my car suddenly failed on the highway and started stalling afterwards. I heard a loud short bang twice while starting the car several times. Sounds exactly like what I'm reading here. I've informed my garage on what I read. Let's see what the issue is... Anyway, this is what I like about forums such as these!
