I've always been told that the way to break in an engine and ensure that the rings seat properly was to constantly vary the RPMs, not lug it (keep it above 3,000 RPMs in the case of a Boxster) and periodically take the revs into the upper range (not necessarily red line, but 5-6,000). I wonder what Jake Raby recommends. Of course it should be warmed up by driving (not idling) first.
