More commonly people stay within the Porsche family and will put a 911 engine in a boxster, I'd suggest this route but also want to remind you that especially with how 996s are, it's cheaper to just buy a 911. I am unsure what model boxster you have but if you have a base, why not test drive an S and see if the few grand upgrade would satisfy your needs over a whole engine swap.

My base boxster will be moded for just looks.
I really really want a 986s in automatic with an engine like this.
I have to do it from scratch because I want my engine 0 miles/100k warranty and I do not trust anyone but my mechanic. He's been working for my father for 20 years and you can eat of his garages floor. Super clean
Money is not really the issue, but since I do not know about American cars, I do not know if the price is ok.
