Man I'm learning a lot from your car!! LOL. There is a fuel tank vent valve under the right fender liner that I think is the problem. This is where the carbon canister and fuel tank vapor recovery system is located. Not an uncommon occurrence on mellow aged cars. If you've been smelling fumes then look into this system and check hoses on top of fuel tank for leaks.
