Has anyone used a smoke leak detector to check an AOS?

As the title states... Has anyone used a smoke leak detector to check an AOS condition? Can it be used? Would you put the smoke in the intake ( or even the upper AOS hose) and look for smoke in the oil fill or put smoke in the crank case (oil fill) and look for smoke at the upper hose?
