Hi,

I cannot see the heat having anything to do with it and suspect it may be coincidental. However, the #1 issue with the Power Top always seems to be either of the two micro-switches. The one in the Windshield Header and the one on the Parking Brake.

It might be possible that a component in one of these expands from the heat which causes it not to operate. Concentrate on these and either pull them and check to insure that they are clean and operating properly, or replace them. Hope this helps...
