Because the majority of new model Boxsters are bought by people who want the image.
Fancy being seen by your neighbours manually opening or closing the top.
I mean dhaaarling, its just not done is it, not when one can just press that little button thingy.......
Fiddling with each side could positively RUIN my nails !
