KRAM - I was eluding to the number of revisions that Porsche have had on their coolant pumps. For instance I bought a genuine pump from Jake Raby in Sept 2010 with part #999-106-011-55 which has already been superseded by pump suffix#56 - see below for all the revisions.

Genuine Porsche Parts
Manufacturer: Porsche
Part Number: 996-106-011-56
Part: WATER PUMP
Replaces: 996-106-011-51, 996-106-011-53, 996-106-011-54, 996-106-011-55

All I am saying is there is no guarantee that other (cheaper) suppliers are selling you the latest updated pump....
And I'm sure nobody outside of Porsche and the manufacturer knows the difference between the models. Who knows, pumping volume, bearing size, impeller materials etc etc may all have been updated.

Gelbster - you are correct re latest pump # as far as I can find...
