If they are hard plastic they are from your chain ramps / wear pads.
To get a better understanding of the amount wear, the next step would be to drop your oil pan and inspect the debris - probably at the next oil change.
Do you have a Durametric to check the camshaft deviation - another indication of ramp wear.
