Thanks for all the helpful information and experiences. My level in the water bottle has stayed on the max mark and the needle doesn't seem to raise much over the 12 o'clock point so I think I can put this one to bed. As a matter of interest I put a very accurate thermometer into the water bottle. The car was idling for about 5mins after a hard drive, the needle was sitting on where the 100 degree C mark would be (212 degrees F)-just over 12 o'clock. The thermometer was 89 degrees C (192 degrees F)
