Wouldn't think it was the insulation. Can't be any insulation where the clamshell meets the gasket seating the clamshell down.
There is an issue with newly installed tops needing to stretch out on the frame and a recommendation was posted to not lower the top for weeks or even months to let that stretching occur. If any top hadn't stretched fully and was still tight, there would be significant resistance to everything closing in the last few percent of the cycle.
