In conclusion...
Unless you have an intact core there isn't much of value to a grenaded M96.
Bolts and accessories can be useful for future maintenance.
It was well worth my time to take it apart for the education. I have a much better understanding of the design and function of these engines now.
As for the scrap, I dropped off two stripped 4cyl Integra blocks, an Accord V6 engine, and the stripped out 2.7 M96. My total was about $160 of which probably 1/3 was from the M96. The case halves make pretty easy "clean aluminum", but most of it was best left as mixed. Not much of a business venture, but I got some real estate back in my garage.
