I imagine it's the same on a 987, which I have done on my LE. If so, it's a relatively easy job, just a bit frustrating removing the snap-on clip that holds it in place.

Access is easy by removing the panel behind the seats. The sensor is on the driver's side. I ended up pulling the sensor out of the antifreeze jacket and stuffed a wrag in it so antifreeze wouldn't run out. I then removed the clip holding the sensor to the snap on wire. Removing the clip was the most time-consuming step of the process. Wanted to be careful not to break it, so I worked gingerly.

I checked Bentley and I couldn't find a write up about it. If you've got an afternoon, you can do it.
