remove the rubberized coating with sand paper and hot water (220 grit works well).
I painted it with some plasti dip ! it looks great but I don't like the feel and it's easy to scratch... I think I will go for something else. a laquer works great but I didn't find any in flat black.
a leather covering may be difficult if you've never done it, the center console has a complex shape !
