While that is true, the general public and especially competitors either don't agree with it, or use it to bash the product.

When bearings were sold to the DIY market, things were a total pain in the ass. The purchasers expected someone to sit on the phone with them, holding their and through the entire procedure. When that didn't happen, they'd get all pissed and run to forums like this one, and run their suck.

When they made a mistake, guess who got the blame? The guy that tried to help them.

I tried charging for support, offering training seminars. Nothing worked.

A decision was made to lose sales and retain the reputation of the product.
