Oh C'mon! I would argue that for that much power, it handles better than some of these older Porsches now selling for princely sums (with not much power).

Unfortunately, the Corvette, like many big power cars, attracts drivers with more courage than skill (I'm being polite there). The same kind of drivers that have totaled more than a few Carrera GT, Viper, etc.

I have a friend like that, he bought a Viper when it first came out. He said the dealer provided no instruction whatsoever. They just waited for him until late in the evening to pick up the Viper and then just slid the key across the the desk. He was used to hot-dogging on the highway in his little BMW convertible. He wouldn't admit to it but the Viper must have scared him straight because I never saw the car leave the garage after the first few 'outings'.
