well, depends on how you value your time. gotta get under the car, pull the old one off, measure, do some machining, a few trips to town for parts, uh oh, fitting not in stock so gotta put it back together again so that you can drive the car until the part gets in, etc.

say 4 hours? is your time worth less than $25/hour? if yes then fill your boots. if not then buy it and drive. personally, $25/hour is ok, but given the choice i'd rather go for a walk, have a beer, or sleep in. my time is worth less than $125/hour, however, which is why I do most of my own wrenching ...
