I'm replacing the compressor, receiver dryer, and expansion valve as I write this. I'm currently holding the system at vacuum. I'll be doing a write up when I'm finished. If I were you I'd go with an inexpensive R134 refill kit from the auto parts store under the theory it's a slow leak, and yes, the purists are wringing their hands. I've nursed along old AC systems this way over several seasons. You have a miniscule chance this will work. If it does, expect a seasonal ritual. The low and high pressure ports are under the right hand cover next to the battery. If you've never done AC work, it's best to have it done by a professional as AC takes special tools, and does not forgive mistakes. The refill kit is made for folks who have not worked on AC systems so provided you follow the directions, it could work.
