Is there any practical way to reduce the power assistance for the steering on our cars?

I've been thinking about disconnecting the PAS completely, but today I tried coasting down a steep hill with the engine off to simulate no PAS and it's drivable but just a bit too heavy in tight corners to be pleasant.

One option is an under drive main pulley, but my understanding from people who have them is that you can't really feel the reduction in terms of the steering assist.

I think I'd want the assist cut by over 50%, leaving just enough to make the steering a bit more manageable in slow corners.

Maybe a combination of undersized main pulley and oversized steering pump pulley?

Any other options?
