Boxster S 986 Engine Problem

Hi,

Looking for any advise or pointers to try to rectify the following problem.

I replaced the spark plugs on my 2002 Boxster 986 S.

I started with OEM Beru plugs (14FGR-6KQU).

The plugs that came out of the car were Bosch Super.

On changing the plugs I noticed the car seemed to be a little down on power and did not sound as throaty as before it was idling and pulling smoothly.

I did notice that the a few of the coil packs on the car were showing cracks in the the plastic casing and as they were still original on the car I decided to replace them to see hoping this may be part of the issue.

I also order a set of the Bosch plugs that were originally in the car (Part No. FGR6KQE). The Beru Coil packs used were part no (0040.100.031)

On fitting the new Beru coil packs and Bosch plugs there is definitely an improvement in sound of the car, it still idles smoothly and appears to pull strong throughout the rev range. (Maybe lacking a little low end power before 4000rpm)

The really noticeable difference for me is that the previous throaty induction noise at around 3000-4000 rpm at full throttle has disappeared.

Also on starting the car it intermittently does not roar into life like of used to and just kind of coughs and then starts without the nice roar I remember. It never fails to start.

I have done a good few miles on the car and hooked to OBD scanner and can find no faults and have no check engine light.

I torqued all plugs to 28nm and was very careful to ensure all connectors of each coil clicked into place.

Can anyone help me as to what could be causing this?

The only other change to the car was to replace a dead battery with a direct replacement.

Any help much appreciated.
