I've heard that one should flush the oil system multiple times until there are no more metal pieces. A spin on filter with a magnet and a magnetic drain plug will help.
Even then, I'm wondering whether one should use an unsealed bearing at all. I'm not sure a sealed bearing is an option these days, but if the seals last 50,000 miles then at least the IMSB won't fail due to any shavings left in the lubrication system.
