I'm in the process of installing a double DIN unit on my 2000 without Bose. Based on what I've been able to find, the VSS is on the Black connector with the battery, antenna control, illumination , switched power and ground. It is on the outside edge of the connector on a diagonal to the battery constant wire.

If you are using the Euro Motor Speed kit, it is in position 1 on the bottom half of the Black Harness Adapter. You can see in the attached picture how I moved one of the speaker wires that I will not be using to serve as the VSS hook up. (It is the green wire with the white label attached.)

I have not finished my installation, so I have not tested it.
