A plate with three holes in it does not look a whole lot like the automatic transmission dis-assembly tool referenced. I think you are looking for a cam locking tool for timing the engine valves, and unless you have a machine shop and the tool dimensions, or a whole lot of time AND are good with a file just buy one. I tried making one from aluminum and found the shape and tolerances merit buying one. It's not just a flat plate. The one I bought fits into the cams one way with very little tolerance. Over the range of less than a degree of camshaft rotation for either cam it goes from fitting with no wiggle room to not fitting at all. If you want the cams timed dead on, and you do, I found the best way for me was to buy the tool.
