Like the saying goes, "Let the buyer beware". You cannot get a warranty on a 14 year old car so I just got'em down on price and hope for the best. I have a 99, things to look out for beyond the usual tires, brakes. Water in the brake booster on pre 2000 cars, coolant fans, the 4 spoke steering wheel tends to wear and horn starts honking randomly. I tell everyone who asks, if you are not handy and willing to work on your car yourself you better have a pile of money to pay someone and even when you fix it yourself parts can be expensive and difficult to get. I have taken to scrounging on ebay and craigslist. There are a lot of great people on these forums willing to help, they are a great resource.
